Dethatching

Depending on your choice of establishment you may need to make dethatching a part of your annual maintenance program from year two if it’s turf or year 3-4 from seed.

Thatch accumulation and the need to remove it depends mainly on how often you fertilise and whether the clippings are removed or not. Dethatching helps with aeration of the canopy resulting in less disease. It also improves the uptake and penetration of many other products.
